I choose a domain name based on the keyword that I want to rank high in the search engines. Let's say I wanted to promote a specific product like Word Press Video Tutorials. I would want my domain name to be something like BestWPTurorials.info or com or net.

Let's say you are buying a domain name for your business, you have just purchase a piece cyber real estate! So an example would be like this: xyz.com or xyz.net or xyz.ws or xyz.org You get the point. Many people use .com, because it is the most internet found. Have fun, just play with the idea of creating your presents online.

You determine a domain name by first deciding what you are going to use the domain for, and then in what manner you want to use it. You then try to combine into the name a keyword that suits the purpose that you selected th use the site for. The reason most go for a dot com is that Google give massive preference to that TLD. a dot info for example is looked on by Google as a potential spammy site and it is there fore harder to get a dot info into a good position and keep it there.

Google does NOT give preferential treatment in search results for.com names. I heard this several years ago, so I set out to rank for my user name with a .info extension and have held #1 for years. The only reason I see for .com is it is the default for most browsers and in most peoples minds. For search engines that doesn't matter, because the results will have a clickable link.

You want to find the best keywords in your niche and include them in your name so that you get the best ranking in the search engines for those words.

.com are always excellent as far as SEO is concerned.. but now a days it doesnt matter.. the key in determining a good domain name is that it should contain the keyword for which you want to rank high in search engines..

The domain name you select for your site will have an impact on the resell value of your virtual property. If a .com is not available or much more expensive than an alternative, go with the alternative ... the main thing is the key word value, how easy it is to remember and how short you can make it!
