I do, i will post an answer only if i have something to add that would be useful. Some people ask stupid questions and as such i will give them a stupid answer or a statement that points out that fact.

I think a better question is whether they even read the QUESTION? I often wonder what some people are talking about because they are way off in left field with their answers.

The reason I am asking this is to bring attention to the fact that there is an answer count although I admit its small and not easy to see. However if you see a question you want to answer then click on the text of the actual question it will then open up and you can see if there are answers or not then you can read whats there and adjust your answer so it is not a repeat of what has been said. make your answer add value to the post . now in this type of question you are bound to get similar replies but don't do what Tim did. He was burbling about some count and was totally off subject. And what happens to answers that are off topic? Thats right its gone ergo you can't see Tims garbage. I am also seeing by reading the answers in may of the posts that members are just putting in an answer without looking at what has been said - unfortunately I have caught a member that is normally very correct but on this occasion it was clear no reading had been done. ----- .@oldbuddy :-)

I could not conceivably answer a question without reading the answers already entered. However, I know that it does happen here. Hopefully collectively we can curtail it just as we have almost done away with those garbled comments folks used to leave simply to accumulate points. I guess people do not truly grasp the concept of a social network.

@Gil The only reason you are seeing less garbage as replies, and questions, and less repeat questions is because I am clearing up the crap 3 or 4 times a day. It has not stopped I can assure you. My Status tells it all. and ASK takes up around 80% of my time spent in APSense .

I have a new thought, not already mentioned. Not only do I read the answers to a question I am considering answering, I read other questions and answers. You would be amazed at what you can learn. Does it take more time, yes, however, measure the time with what you learn. For example, I read the question regarding using your own short url vs the one APSense uses. I read another question and learned more. I appreciate that someone asked the question, though, because it makes other members think.

A good proportion of the questions i view i don't bother answering simply because although the question is relevant and worthy of an answer i am not yet experienced enough here at apsense to answer authoritatively or there has been a solid answer submitted, Having too many answers from a variety of members can cause confusion and turns into a discussion rather than a Q & A session and the original subject can get lost in that confusion as can the correct answer to that question.

I like reading the replies before answering a question, I don't know how many others do the same. I find that reading the other answers can be very helpful, even if I think I may have great advice for someone.
